Where the numbers come from, and what they mean.
Gold and silver
Standard Bullion supplies indicative dealer ask and bid prices in USD per troy ounce. Ask refers to buying from that provider, and bid to selling to it. Currency conversion does not turn these into a quote from a local jewellery shop.
The server checks quotes every minute and retains the original source timestamp. A provider update can reflect a feed refresh rather than a last exchange trade. A successful response is not proof the market is open.
Currencies and purity
The currency-api project supplies daily reference exchange rates. Its date is displayed separately from the metal quote. These are not a named bank’s bid/ask rates or parallel-market prices. Local exchange access and rates may differ, especially where controls or multiple rates exist.
Pure-gram value = troy-ounce price ÷ 31.1034768. Nominal-karat value = pure-gram value × karat ÷ 24. The result is multiplied by the FX rate. Actual stamped fineness, such as 585 or 999.9, may differ from nominal ratios. Bars marked 999.9 use 99.99%; the coin example is 8 grams at 21K.
History and performance
Historical points come from Standard Bullion in USD per troy ounce. Charts stay in USD when you change table currency, so today’s FX rate is not presented as a historical local rate. Missing dates are not filled with fabricated points.
Chart-period change compares its first and last available observations. The performance card uses the provider’s day/week/month/year fields, which can differ because of sampling or comparison methodology. Calculator charges are included only when you enter them.
When an update fails
The last validated values remain available with their original dates. Freshness labels depend on age; an update failure or old FX date displays a warning. Without a genuine saved quote the site displays Unavailable. Alerts do not trigger on stale or invalid data.
Figures are indicative and informational. Availability, accuracy and executable prices are not guaranteed. The site does not provide predictions or trade recommendations.
